Choosing your Will Writer

Selecting a will writer is not an easy task - many people make their choice following a recommendation by a friend: 80%+ of our business comes from personal recommendation.

Others trawl the Internet - but each website often says much the same as any other, with the only difference being the prices when these are shown. We, however, are a little different.

Convenient Will has been providing its services since 2004, and over that time we have come to realise that our services provide features that others often do not. We are not saying the following list of features/characteristics are totally unique to us but that while the majority of will-writers (be they solicitors or home-visit will writers) provide many of the following features very few provide ALL of the features we offer - and especially at our price point.

Unique Selling Points of our Will-drafting & LPA-making services

Our home-visit LPA & Will services include the following features:

A.  Meetings can be held in the morning, afternoon, evening, after work, after the children have gone to bed, and even on a Saturday.  In short: whenever it is convenient for you.

B.  We come to your home [or your workplace or a hospital ward if preferred] to take your instructions  Many of our clients say how they find this arrangement less stressful than having to travel to a solicitor’s or will-writer’s office.

C.  I will use my many years of experience to guide you through all the areas you need to consider - using a friendly, non-technical, jargon-free  language that you will easily understand. You will then be able to make informed decisions.

D.  Further, the clauses in your Will are of a modern style so you and your executors can easily understand them.

E.  Our advice is holistic. When taking your instructions we will explain how your choices could impact on other aspects of estate planning e.g. taxation and LPA operation.

F.  Our charges are transparent  - you can find our most frequently requested services listed on this website. Further, we have a comparatively simple charging structure  e.g. we have one price for a Will irrespective of how complicated it is.

G.  We will draft any required side letter needed to support your Will for you and at no extra cost (except where the estate is worth £1M+ and complex).

H.  We supply draft Wills and LPA summaries for your perusal and checking prior to printing off your master documents.  This gives you time to reflect upon (and change if required) your original instructions.

I.  We personally oversee the LPA & Will signing: This means that we can better defend your Will should it ever be challenged, and ensure your LPA documentation is signed correctly.

These are just some of the reasons why our clients choose us, Convenient Wills, to make their legal documents for them.

What is a Will and what can a Will do?

In our experience most people know a Will to be a document that sets out how a person’s estate is to be distributed on the death of the testator.  Its technical requirements [to make it a legal document] are less well known, and what a professionally drafted Will can achieve is lesser known still.

If you use our services we will explain to you what a Will is, and what a professionally drafted Will can achieve - including reducing a inheritance tax liability, avoiding disinheritance of your children/beneficiaries, and protecting assets from being used to fund the long term care costs of your surviving spouse or partner. If you are a business owner we will discuss business succession. We will then determine if any of these points are of importance to you.- And if they are then draft your Will accordingly.

As a result we reduce significantly the pre-meeting research required by you to a minimum..

In short, we are comprehensive - and statement frequently confirmed verbally by many of our clients who had previously made a Will with a solicitor or will-writer, and backed up by inspection of their earlier Will.

What is an LPA?

Awareness of the need for having LPAs is increasing. In case you are unaware of them an Lasting Power of Attorney (to give them their full title) is a paper-based document that sets out who is to make decisions for you should you ever be unable to make a decision for yourself due [say] to lack of mental capacity. There are two types: LPA Health and Welfare and LPA - Property & Financial affairs.

If you use our services we will explain these documents to you in detail, and show why they are so important to have.

Why delay? Book an appointment today.

We would like to help you make your Will(s) and LPA(s).
